MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: Andrew Frank
My name is Andrew and I’m an award-winning communications consultant and university instructor, with more than 20 years of professional communications and media relations experience.
I focus on serving Indigenous Nations on a wide range of issues, and I have had the privilege and honour of teaching Indigenous students in community.
A settler of mixed Scottish, English and Irish origin, I grew up in the South Okanagan, on unceded Syilx Okanagan Nation Territory. Today, I live with my family on unceded Musqueam and Kwantlen Territory, close to the Salish Sea. I believe in restitution for Indigenous Nations, and I hope to contribute to reconciliation through my work.
I teach public relations, applied communications and environmental protection courses at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where I create inclusive and supportive learning environments to help students develop skills and confidence to achieve their goals. I recently served as Chair of the Public Relations Diploma program for two terms, and successfully led the redesign of the diploma, including the addition of Indigenous studies, and learning objectives related to awareness of Indigenous Nations, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), in communications planning.
I have a Master of Arts in Communication from Simon Fraser University, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Radio & Television from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where I was the recipient of the Gold Medal for the Faculty of Communication and Design.
I am passionate about the power of communications to help Nations achieve their goals, and I’m excited for the opportunity to learn from you, to share knowledge, and to refresh or develop skills your team will use with confidence.
Sincerely,
Andrew.
